Here are some notes from Tang Feng's graduation speech at National Taiwan University (via remote):

  • Design: There are many aspects to design, but ultimately it always revolves around people. By choosing to focus on people, you can avoid being limited by a single field and even break through the salary ceiling.
  • Listening: Choose to stand on each side. Listen carefully to the other person's problems, try to see things from their perspective, and see if you can articulate their problems yourself. If you can't, it means you don't understand them well enough. Try to spend some time with them (what if there are conflicting values).
  • Academics: Acquiring knowledge doesn't necessarily have to be through formal education. If you have your own questions, universities can provide academic support if needed. You can also work in society for a while and return to university when necessary, so that you can be on equal footing with professors.
  • Dealing with media chaos:
    • Be your own media. For example, YouTubers like "Joyful Unstoppable Party" can create ripples to draw more attention to politics. People like "Chih-Chi 77" can disseminate current affairs. "Bone" and "Retina" use their own methods to counter the existing media.
    • People: If you encounter media that goes beyond the bottom line, come out and boycott them, forcing them to apologize and change their ways.
