In college, to learn Japanese, I looked for language-exchange partners on Lang-8 and JCInfo.net. It wasn't efficient, but it introduced me to two wonderful people: once over fugu hotpot in Osaka, once at a reunion in Taipei five years later. Getting together for no reason at all may only grow more precious in this era.
