Cherry Blossom Record (1)
Cherry blossoms are beautiful, but I’ve found that they’re actually not that easy to photograph well—especially when the sun is too strong and I want a wide aperture. If I’m not careful, everything ends up overexposed, and no matter how I adjust things afterward, it doesn’t seem to improve much. One thing I’ve learned recently is not to try to capture too many cherry blossoms in a single shot, because the colors all blend together and look worse instead. In any case, I still need more practice. During the first few years after coming to Japan, I lived near Ōhori Park, so going to Ōhori Park to see the cherry blossoms was basically a fixed March tradition. Last year, I also went to Kokura Castle to photograph the cherry blossoms.
